What I love about Tanya is her holistic approach to healing. She sees much more than just the physical bodies of her clients; she is curious about all the experiences we have -- physical, emotional, and psychological -- and the obstacles they can create along the healing path. Allyn is an inspiration, personally and professionally. She provided a fantastic personalized training program that was diversified and interesting while taking into account physical issues I had resulting from previous injuries. She closely evaluated my fitness level and areas I needed to strengthen and then developed a program that met my needs. She pushed me (in a very positive way) to reach for more than what I thought was possible, which reminded me that I needed to focus on my physical emotional health. I had my third knee surgery in the summer of 2009. The doctor informed me that I was now bone on bone and the next surgery would be replacement. I needed to keep weight off and strengthen the muscles surrounding the knee. I started going to the gym in the fall working by myself. I went to a trade show in January, 2010 where I work the floor and stand for 9 hours and then go out with clients all night. When I returned from the show, I was limping, in pain and eating Aleve all day.
I got a trainer, Allyn. We started working with weights and core and strength movements. She was great about working around my schedule and giving me exercises for when I was on the road and had no gym to use. I felt stronger and liked how I felt. January of 2011, I went to the same trade show. A couple days after I returned, I realized that I was never in pain while I was there and I did not limp. Not even a little! This was when I realized what working with Allyn had given me – a pain free life again.
I started noticing other little things, like I stand straighter. And I don’t walk like a duck but with one foot straight out in front of the other. All of these things that I had gotten used to with a bad knee were now gone.
I’d like to say that I am 20 pounds lighter and look 20 years younger, but even better, I am healthy and I do not hurt. And I will not be having my knee replaced anytime in the near future. OK, so I would like to be 20 pounds lighter and younger….. but this is good!

Working with Allyn Blind has been the best thing I have ever done in my life!
I am a 56 year old woman, who has been insulin dependent for the past 43 years. I am also someone who has never really taken good care of her body. I wanted to improve my general fitness and strength and to lose the excess weight I have carried for the past 10 years. In 2010, I made the decision to improve my overall health by obtaining a personal trainer and I was lucky enough to be introduced to Allyn. We met for an initial assessment of my fitness level and we developed an eating and exercise plan. Due to my diabetes and other medical setbacks, it has not always been an easy plan to follow, which would frustrate and discourage me. However, Allyn was always there to encourage me and point out all the progress that I had made.
I am fitter that I have ever been since my 20s. My core strength is improving and I no longer suffer from my old “aches and pains.” My balance has dramatically improved and I find myself participating in more activities with ease. My weight has decreased, while my overall health continues to improve. In fact, due to the training provided by Allyn, as well as her nutritional expertise, my diabetes has been in the best control of my life.
When Allyn informed me that she was leaving for a new professional venture, for selfish reasons, I was saddened to see her leave. However, I was also very excited for her, and I knew that Allyn had left me with all the tools I would need to meet my fitness goals. Even today, although from a long distance, Allyn continues to encourage me in my health journey and I know she is there with me every step of the way. In November 2010, my weight was up to 170lbs. I have always been active and generally a fit person so this was a low point in my life physically and emotionally. I started lifting and working out on my own again but I was not making much progress.
I began considering working with a trainer again. Eventually, I made a firm decision. I described what my goals were, the types of exercise and style of training I prefer. Based on this, Allyn was to become my personal trainer.
We initially met and set some goals. I knew the weight wouldn't peel off right away but we made significant progress. The level and style of her training was perfect. Each session, Allyn had something new whether it was a circuit, strength, or stability sequences. There were mornings I thought that there was no way I could accomplish that sequence without face planting. But Allyn motivated and challenged me in a way that was empowering and helped me prove to myself that it could be done.
After five months, I was down to 138 lbs.. Physically, I look and feel great. My cardio has been taken to higher levels. Before, I would have struggled to run a mile. However, I was able to complete a 10k obstacle course with a mud run successfully. Additionally, my attitude and outlook on life has improved. It's because of Allyn I was able to achieve my goals.
