What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial Release is a safe and effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.)

The use of Myofascial Release allows us to look at each client as a unique individual. Our one-on-one sessions are hands-on treatments during which we use a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy incorporating corrective exercise, yoga, and functional movement patterns. We promote independence through education in proper body mechanics and movement, self treatment instruction, enhancement of strength, improved flexibility, and postural and movement awareness.

Hands-On Treatment

Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils or creams. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.

The John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach® is considered to the ultimate therapy that is safe, gentle and consistently effective in producing results that last. Myofascial Release will safely and gently release the entire Myofascial complex for lasting and comprehensive results and authentic healing.

"What I love about Tanya is her holistic approach to healing. She sees much more than just the physical bodies of her clients; she is curious about all the experiences we have -- physical, emotional, and psychological -- and the obstacles they can create along the healing path. Tanya is also extremely knowledgeable about the human body and always seems to know exactly where I hold my tension. Because of Tanya I have greater body awareness and self-love, and for that I am very grateful." ~Kristen
